2025 EV Sales So Far: GM Wins, Tesla Loses

The results of the first quarter sales are rolling out, and most of the work makers are looking for things. Toyota sales are closed for a strong start, Mazda and Sabaro had record months, and what was the best quarter ever. But when digging into the data, the results of the power vehicles were more mixed.

Tesla’s quarter sales declined by 13 %, which provided 336,681 vehicles during the first three months of 2025. Revenue reported 8,640 vehicles, which has decreased by 36 %. But General Motors reported a 94 % increase in EV sales for the same period, in which 31,887 EVs were sold.

Only Cadelic Lariq saw a decrease in sales on GM, which is 25.9 % lower. However, Cadelic launched Optic and Scalled IQEV, which is much higher than the loss of Lariq in the previous quarter, and the sales of Cadelic EV have increased as a whole.

Every other GMEV, including the GMC Hummer, saw the increase in sales over the previous year. The sales of Berli EV increased by 108.6 %, which moved 3,479 units to Q1. Chevrolet Ecunox is the highest sale of EVGM, which has sold 10,329. It has been selling for less than a year.

Thanks to Mustang Mach E and E -transit, EV sales increased to 11.5 % at Ford 22.550. The automacker sold 11.607 Electric Musting, 21.0 % and 3,756 van, 29.9 % increase. In the last quarter, they both sold 7,187 electric pickup for 7.2 % dip in F -150 electric sales.

BMW battery electric vehicles also started a strong start of the year, which increased by 26.4 % -13,585 for the quarter. The sales of BMW I4 and IX jumped 57 and 23.1 %, respectively, which forms a 15.2 and 10.4 % dip in the sales of I5 and I7.

Did a decline in sales for EV6 and EV9, respectively for 7.9 and 6.3, respectively. In Hundi, ioniq 5 saw its sales increase by 26.0 %, while sales of ioniq 6 declined by 9.0 %. Subaru Solotra sales increased by 172.9 %, Q1 2024 in 1,147 to Q1 2025 in 3,131. Toyota BZ4X sales increased by 105.7 % to 5.610. However, sales of Lexus RZ declined by 9.3 %.

Volkswagen ID.4 sales also increased, which increased by 24.3 % to 7.663. The automaker has just added ID.Buzz to his lineup, which has so far moved 1,901 units. The sales of Nissan Ariya increased by 0.1 percent to 4,148, while the leaf increased from 103.4 percent – 1,142 to 2,154 units.

The other EVs on sales have not been in the market for long to find out if the sales are low or down. Honda has sold 9,561 Prolog and 4,813 Acura ZDX crossover this year. Stellats have just offered Jeep Vegonier S and Dodge Charger Datoona EV, 2,595 Electric Crossover, and 1,947 moved.

Just a few years ago, car makers made enough promises to make their lineup electricity. The gas was gone, and the batteries were present. But buyers did not show up as expected, which causes companies anger at their power projects. Change and proposed tariffs in policy can soon devastate the growing EV market, and next quarter results will improve the future of the market.
