The US intelligence worker was arrested for trying to leak files abroad.
A 28 -year -old man working for the US Intelligence Agency in Virginia was arrested for trying to distribute secret government files with another country. His name is Nathan Vilas Lots. He was working for the Defense Intelligence Agency, which handles sensitive national security information. Lots had a high level security clearance and worked in a part of the agency responsible for identifying the dangers from the inside.
After receiving the tip of the FBI, he began to see that someone offered to hand over the information. Lots sent a message that he thought had a foreign contact, saying he did not support the current US administration and was willing to share secret documents. He claimed that the prepared reports, raw data and other files were accessed. He started copying some of these materials and began to take them out of the agency building within a few days.
What did not know Lots was that the person who thought he was a foreign agent was actually a secret FBI agent. After their conversation continued, the FBI organized a meeting location where Latish believes he can leave the documents to lift. On May 1, FBI agents saw him going to a park in northern Virginia and left something. When the agents recovered him, they found a thumb drive that had a message and several documents that were marked as a top or top secret. He told the agent that the sample showed information that he could send.

Later, Lots asked for something in return. He said he was interested in citizenship in another country because he had little hope about the future in the United States. While he said he did not need money, he was not against getting other benefits. He focused more on leaving the country instead of paying compensation.
On May 14, the secret agent told Lots that they were ready to obtain more documents. Over the next two weeks, Latish copied more information at work, linked notes, and hid them in his clothes. On May 29, he went to another meeting point with plans to leave even more secret files. At the same time when the FBI entered and arrested him.
Officials from several federal agencies talked about the arrest. He explained that such behavior pose a threat to national security. He said he would continue to work to find and stop people who try to leak sensitive information. The Defense Intelligence Agency also assisted in the investigation, and their cooperation was noted by the officials.
Latish has been accused of trying to transmit national defense information that he believed to work for another country. It will be a court case in the eastern district of Virginia. Until now, he is considered innocent until the court is found guilty.
The case shows how serious it is when anyone working in the government decides to break the rules. It also shows how carefully the law enforcement agencies have to work while dealing with the potential risks from the inside. The FBI used a secret operation to ensure that the information really never left our hands. Finally, the decision to pass through the Latish Act led to his arrest before any damage was done.
Such treachery, even when it does not lead to successful leakage, raises concerns about who has access to the country’s most sensitive information. It is a reminder that trust should be similar to permanent checks, and whoever chooses to break this confidence will have the consequences.
