    Meditation is present everywhere these days. Guidance is taught in meditation or concepts, mentality, walking meditation, physical scan, and even mantra meditation in classrooms and workplaces, as well as popular meditation apps.     For me, mantra meditation-more especially extraordinary meditation (TM)-life is changing. In this piece, I explain what TM is, discover its benefits, and discuss the differences between TM and Mediterranean meditation.

    Fifteen years ago, in 2009, I started to consider. At that time, my life was changing in almost every possible way. I returned to my hometown of San Francisco after seven years of teaching in Los Angeles. I was diagnosed with an automatic disease, ultraviolet colitis. Now, even today, we do not know everything about the disease, but what we know is that stress is a huge stimulus. There, I was diagnosed with a chronic disease, trying to understand its symptoms, manage them and plan for an unexpected future. At the same time, another important event of life was coming out: I was just 30 years old and was on a difficult journey to try to have a baby – an experience that took three years, filled with doctor’s visits, uncertainty and loss.

    Above all, I was professionally transferring – from the classroom teachers in LA to work in the Central Office for the new teachers of SF Unified School District District. It was very – personally, professional, emotionally – and this was the moment I started to consider.

    What is the highest meditation (TM)?

    Through a grant of the David Lunch Foundation offered to employees at San Francisco Unified School District, I had a meditation style in 2009. TM is a form of mantra -based meditation where you quietly repeat a specific word (mantra) so that you can focus on the pattern of ordinary thought and beyond it. The idea is that the repetition of the mantra allows the mind to settle in a deep state of comfort and smart, promoting a sense of internal peace.

    TM learning usually involves enrolling in the TM Center and paying for directing, which can be provided to one another or in a small group.     For me, TM quickly became anchor in my daily life. As a person who appreciates the routine, it was a simple ritual that created a deep sense of peace and explanation. I found myself looking forward to this feeling after the medicine: light, more ground and better lace that was around me. It has allowed me to face the challenges of life with a clear mind and open heart.
