For three days, as Gourmet Foodies took over Music City, guests at the event were given privileged access to test drive the Porsche Macan Electric. Rob ReportK’s Automotive Editor, Vijo Mathew, was able to take Macon around town and meet two Nashville-based artisans to discuss the importance of high-end craftsmanship and finesse in their work.

The next stop was Imagine Recordings, where, like Porsche, sound is crucial. For example, the “Porsche Electric Sport Sound System” enhances the driving experience to create an emotional Porsche-specific sound based on speed and torque. Of course, this work is of great importance to Lochterhand as well. Inviting Matthew into the recording studio, the chart-topping sound engineer talks about his life’s work, explaining the importance of technological innovation to sharpen, reinterpret and fix flaws in the music he produces. Loctor Hand also explains that technological progress is only part of the story. Imagination will always be an essential part of the creative process. Because, for him, creating a song from scratch is like writing from a blank page: it’s a process that requires both creativity and technical precision.

To the untrained eye, Loctor Hand says it looks like he’s just moving the faders in the studio, but there’s a magical alchemy happening on his board. He compares the engineering process to driving, where instinct is allowed to take over before technical precision is learned.
