Amazon’s Criterion Collection Black Friday sale doesn’t always include an advance, but one of the most popular upcoming releases is now eligible for 50% off. Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut is available for pre-order on 4K Blu-ray for $25 ($50) and 1080p Blu-ray for $20 ($40). Eyes wide closed release November 25and is currently the #1 best-selling movie on Amazon.
Eyes Wide Shut is the second Stanley Kubrick release of 2025, Criterion’s second Stanley release. This standard led Barry Linden to 4K Blu-ray in July. If you haven’t yet picked up Kubrick’s epic historical drama, it’s also eligible for Amazon’s half-off sale, bringing the price of Barry Lindon’s 4K Blu-ray down to $US25 ($50). Several 1080p Blu-ray and DVD editions of Kubrick’s films are also in development. But the best Kubrick Black Friday 2025 contract outside of the eyes wide shut pre-order is probably the brilliant and officially authorized archive book. The Stanley Kubrick Archives is on sale for just $38.66 ($100) when you click the coupon box on Amazon’s store page.
$25 (was $50) | Releases on November 25

Arguably Kubrick’s weirdest—and certainly most sexually explicit—film, Eyes Wide Shut was a big box office hit, but it proved too disturbing and awkward for some critics and fans in 1999. These days, though, many critics and fans consider the Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman film a masterpiece.
The 4K release of Eyes Wide Shut is a three-disc set with one 4K UHD disc and two 1080p Blu-ray discs. Like the other standard releases, this version is designed to be closer to Kubrick’s fully complex vision of how it should be presented. While the legendary director died in 1999 less than a week after screening the final cut for Warner Bros., the Criterion’s restoration was overseen by the film’s director of photography, Larry Smith. Since the 1080p version is based on a 4K restoration, it should also be an improvement over the current Blu-ray edition.
Notably, Criterion restored the international version—not the aforementioned final cut—the American theatrical edition, which was censored to receive an R rating.
On a technical level, this release adds support for Dolby Vision HDR and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound.
For bonus material, new interviews have been filmed with Smith, photographer and second-unit director Lisa Levin, and Stanley Kubrick archivist Georgina Orgill.
There are also archival extras from the previous Blu-ray release of Eyes Wide Shut, such as interviews with actors, a documentary examining Kubrick’s unfinished films. All of these bonuses are available for viewing on the standard Blu-ray disc. The standard Blu-ray edition is a two-disc set with the same bonus features.
Inside the display case you’ll find a booklet with a 1999 interview with Kubrick and actor Sidney Pollock, as well as a new essay by author Megan Abbott. Check out the full list of features below.

Loosely adapted from Arthur Schnitzler’s novelistic story, Ivy Wide Shut follows Dr. Bill Harford (Tom Cruise) and his wife, Alice (Nicole Kidman), as they confront their unconscious desires, jealousies and fears within a version of New York City that feels one step removed from reality.

As mentioned, Kubrick’s 1975 historical drama Barry Linden, following a Conan infiltrator in high society, is available on 4K Blu-ray at Amazon for $US25 ($50). And just like with Eyes Wide Shut, Barry Linden’s standard Blu-ray edition is up for grabs for just $20. Barry Linden is a three-hour visual feast thanks to decadent cinematography and sumptuous costume designs. It was awarded the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.
Barry Lyndon was the first 4K Blu-ray edition of the Stanley Kubrick film Custodian, but the distributor has printed 1080p Blu-ray and DVD editions of a handful of the director’s other films, including Doctor Strangelove, Murder and Paths of Glory. Standards were also issued Spartacus On DVD, however, as you’ll see in the next section, the 4K Blu-ray edition of Spartacus is half the price—though Criterion’s Spartacus is still 50% off. The CC40 40-film box set has Barry Linden on Blu-ray, so we’ve included it in the list below.
A 1080p Blu-ray edition to pay close attention to on the list below is The Killing, as it’s one of only two Kubrick films to be released on 4K Blu-ray.

Kubrick fans will need to look beyond the standard collection to see most of the director’s most popular films on 4K Blu-ray, including The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Full Metal Jacket, Doctor Strangelove and Spartacus. The Shining recently joined FilmVault, a series of limited edition 4K Blu-rays designed by Vice Press in partnership with Warner Bros. UK.
The region-free special edition of The Shining shown above on 4K Blu-ray includes an exclusive steel bookcase, estate slipcover cigar box, two double-sided posters, and eight art cards. You can get The Shining Special Edition on Amazon for $81.51. Your order is sold/dispatched by Amazon UK and includes free delivery. Alternatively, you can get the Shining Souls steelbook, which includes the steelbook shown above and the acetate slipcover, for .354.39. It’s worth noting that standard 4K Blu-rays of The Shining are only $14 right now.
Kubrick’s Vietnam War film Full Metal Jacket also recently got a new 4K Blu-ray Steelbook edition up for grabs for just $27.
Stanley Kubrick Movies on Blu-ray
Not all of Kubrick’s films have been restored to 4K Blu-ray. The 1956 film The Killing and Kubrick’s 1962 adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov’s novel Lolita are available only on standard Blu-ray. We’ve included a list of Kubrick movies on 1080p Blu-ray below. In some cases, the standard Blu-ray edition is significantly cheaper than the 4K edition. Just be aware that many of the 4K editions also come with standard Blu-ray discs. In addition to the stand-alone edition, there are a few Kubrick Blu-ray box sets, including a fancy Amazon Special Edition that includes the masterpiece collection—it’s out of print and quite expensive—and a region-free 9-film collection that costs just $35.
Stanley Kubrick Books

If you love Kubrick’s films, you owe it to yourself to check out some of Taschen’s excellent books about the director’s work. Most recently, a premium art book publisher released a massive two-volume hardcover set about glitter. This complete deep dive by JW Rinzler is based on hundreds of hours of interviews and mountains of research. This is the final making of account in Kubrick’s most famous film. The second book is a scrapbook of never-before-seen and pre-production photography. The nearly 1,400-page box set is pricey at $125, but it’s simply incredible in scope. We would recommend it.
All Kubrick fans should also add Taschen’s The Stanley Kubrick Archives to their collection. It comes in a coffee table book edition and a more budget friendly, compact edition. Available at 20.50. Taschen’s The Making of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey is also a great read. We’d also recommend Michael Benson’s 2018 book, A Space Odyssey. For a Kubrick biography, you have several options, including the highly rated 2024 book Kubrick: An Odyssey.
