Nintendo has rolled out another new update for Mario Kart World. This patch brings the Switch 2 racing game to version 1.4.0 and includes quality of life improvements and other adjustments.

On several occasions, Nintendo has added a “custom items” rule to the game, allowing you to adjust which items appear during a round. The Custom Items rule can be applied to VS Race, Balloon Battle, and Coin Runners modes.
In addition, Nintendo has tweeted some of the course sequences to and from the Copa Tropa Beach. The company has also changed it so that every race leading up to Copa Tropa Beach will now require you to complete two laps after reaching the course.
Beyond that, Nintendo has added an option to open photo mode while competing against a ghost in time trials. When paused, the game will now display the name of the current music track as well as the title it was originally taken from.
Rounding out the update is a long list of bug fixes, fixing a variety of issues that can occur in Toad’s Factory and other courses. You can read through Nintendo’s full patch notes below.
Nintendo has been periodically releasing updates for Mario Kart World since the game launched alongside the Switch 2 last June. The version 1.3.0 update, which arrived back in September, brought a number of life improvements to the free-roam mode, making it easier to track which CP switches and peach medallions you’ve collected, among other changes.

- Made it so that the player cannot use another smell while already using a smell, when holding two kisses.
- When Dash Food is taken by someone, the time until Dash Food reappears is shortened.
- When a coin placed on the water is picked up by someone, the time is shortened until that coin reappears.

- Fixed an issue where the dash time after a charge jump was incorrect.
- Fixed an issue where the player would slide through a wall when stomped from above by a vehicle while driving on the road.
- Fixed an issue where touching a player who had landed would be squashed.
- Fixed an issue where the pill bill would not be displayed after being used.
- Fixed an issue where a character would be blurred even when making a “focus” “character” when taking a photo in “Photo Mode” in the pause menu.
- Fixed an issue where the screen would be distorted when engaging free spins in “Online Play”.
- Fixed an issue where players could not get into the UFO when multiple players tried to get into the UFO simultaneously in free spins in “Online Play”.
- Fixed an issue where a friend’s information would not be updated when viewing the friends list in “Friends” in “Online Play”.

- The player gets stuck on a tree when using the Bullet Bull on “Dk Pass”.
