Before you begin
Take proper safety precautions when working outdoors in cold weather. Wear warm clothing and shoes with good traction. If using a ladder, ask a helper to find you, especially if you are tackling snow on the ground.
Step 1: Check the lights.

Before stringing up your Christmas lights, first connect the strands and plug them in to make sure they work. I downloaded the Govi Home app at this stage, as it is useful for testing my lights.
Step 2: Measure and Plan Your Layout

Although you’ll still need to climb a ladder to install the gooey outdoor strip lights, remember, you only need to do it once. This is it! Carefully measure and strategize the best layout for strip lights in your home.
Step 3: Install the bracket.

Secure the first bracket in a convenient location to connect the lights to a power source. For me, it’s the far corner of my garage roof line. Gowi lights come with special plastic brackets and screws. I used a 3/32 inch titanium drill bit to make the pilot holes in my aluminum soffits.
Step 4: Attach the strip lights to the brackets.

Thread the strip lights through the starting bracket. If needed, add more brackets and use adhesive backing to keep the strips flat against the mounting surface. Gowi outdoor strip lights can only be cut at the tail end of the strip, and once you cut them there’s no going back. Take care to make sure you cut the strip in the proper place.
Step 5: Create a unique light display.
Once installed, the real fun begins with the gooey outdoor strip lights. My favorite features in the app are FingerSketch, which allows you to select specific parts of the light, and DIY Colors and Effects, which allows you to save and edit truly custom displays. Of course, the app is also loaded with preset scenes for a variety of moods and occasions beyond holiday celebrations.
