- Lexus has confirmed that it will end LC coupe and convertible production at the end of the 2026 model year.
- Lexus discontinued the LC Hybrid last July.
- The sports car first went on sale for the 2018 model year.
Put one up for the Lexus LC. The company confirmed that it will discontinue its V8-powered coupe and convertible after the 2026 model year. In an email statement Motor 1a Lexus spokesperson told us:
The Lexus LC 500 will officially be discontinued after the 2026 model year. Lexus constantly reviews its model mix and strategy to optimize product lineup options to meet the needs of its guests and meet consumer demand. ‘
At the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, Lexus unveiled a sports car based on the 2012 LF-LC concept. Production will begin in 2018 for the 2018 model year. The Lexus LC Convertible will debut a year later in Detroit.
The LC debuted with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that made 471 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. Lexus also offered a hybrid version, which paired a 3.5-liter V6 with two electric motors for a combined output of 354 HP and 369 lb-ft, but the company only sold 251 examples in its lifetime before shutting down after 2025.
Standard LC wasn’t exactly a big hit either. Even in its best year (2021), Lexus sold just 2,782 units, with fewer than 1,300 examples found new homes in 2021. With the hybrid meeting its maker late last year, we knew it was only a matter of time before the entire LC line was discontinued.

Take Motor 1: Sad to see the Lexus LC go, but not surprising. The automaker is reading a new sports car, the GRGT, that it will sell through its Lexus dealers, and sales for the coupe and convertible have never been higher.
