Buying any first-generation technology comes with the risk of tech issues, and it’s no different for early adopters of the new Galaxy Z TriFold. Two users on social media are reporting issues with Samsung’s new smartphone, though the issues don’t appear to be widespread.
Two Reddit posts show similar issues with unresponsive internal displays, both sharing video evidence in the past few days. Both sources say they have handled their devices with care and are not sure how the problems arose.
A Reddit poster found that the phone’s internal screen was unresponsive and wouldn’t display any open apps. The problem started during what they called “normal use,” followed by a sudden green flash on the screen.
This person has experienced this problem twice and found that resetting the device finally solved the problem for a short time. They have now been offered a free repair by Samsung, but the brand says it will take three weeks to fix.
Another user, who posted after the first report, said his device’s internal display also became unresponsive, but it was different: a white screen that didn’t fix after a reset. The man has returned the unit to Samsung for a refund rather than repair, saying he plans to return to the form factor for future generations once the initial issues are resolved.
Samsung seems to be working quickly to fix these issues with existing units, but may not be able to replace the phone at all due to low stock levels.

However, Samsung has confirmed that it will soon have new Galaxy Z TriFold units on sale in the US. According to GSMArena, email notifications sent this week confirmed that the phone will be discontinued again on its website on February 20 at 10 a.m. EST.
The Galaxy Z TriFold sold out quickly when it first went on sale, so you’ll need to act fast to pick it up. The phone is priced at $2,899.
