If you were hoping to buy a new high-performance Kia EV, you’re out of luck. At least, for now. The automaker has stopped offering the EV6 GT in the United States for the foreseeable future.
In a joint statement with Road and TrackKia said that “due to changing market conditions, the 2026 EV6 GT will be delayed until further notice.” Kia did not give a specific reason for the pause, but the automaker also noted that the rest of its EV6 lineup, which it builds in Georgia, is not affected by the decision.

Kia produces the EV6 GT trim in South Korea, a country that now faces a 25 percent import tariff on automobiles, and the car isn’t cheap. It started at $65,275 for the 2025, including a $1,475 destination charge, and an additional $15,000 would put it on par with the $80,000 Cadillac Lyriq-V.
The United States has also eliminated federal incentives for electric vehicles, affecting EV sales at every automaker. EV6 sales are down about 60 percent year-to-date.
