Hertz is informing users about data violations, including drivers’ license numbers and other personal information that its supply is after the hack in China.
The car tenant company said in a posting on its website that it had completed the incident analysis on April 2 and determined that the affected information could include details, credit card data, driver’s license information and workers’ claims. The company confirmed in February that the attackers obtained Heartz’s data during a security incident in a vendor, an enterprise software firm, Kl.
According to a statement provided by a company spokesperson on Monday, “Our forensic investigation has found no evidence that Hertz’s own network was affected by the incident.” “However, in many other companies affected by this event, we have confirmed that Hertz’s data was obtained by an unauthorized third party, which we understand the weaknesses of zero -day exploitation on the Cleo platform in October 2024 and December 2024.”
The car tenant said that Hertz uses Cleo for limited purposes.
According to CyberScript firm Hunterus, last year, a Ranksware Group took advantage of clove technology to target some of the company’s partners. Cleo issued a updated in December to overcome software flaws.
Cleau’s representative did not immediately respond to the comment request.
Tech Crunch had earlier reported the security incident.
