No one is surprised after the recent news of Whiskey Market and Distillery to stop production, new data from the US Department of Treasury has said that the production of US whiskey has been at its lower levels since 2019. This is a significant downturn for an industry that has been flourishing for recent years, and that number is dramatic.
According to an article published by Lexantan Herald LeaderThe US Treasury Department’s monthly National Statistical Report states that the US whiskey distillers produced 78 million proof gallons from January to April 2025, which is 28 % in the same period last year. According to government records, this is the lowest level of production since 2019, when the US was on the rise before reaching heights during the pandemic pandem when people were ordering a lot of houses to drink at home.
The report also states that the purpose of exports has dropped by 70 % of the surprise, a number that may not be shocking to many people in the industry, because the Trump administration’s prices have affected how sales have been affected in other countries. For example, Canada, which is one of the largest export markets in the Boose Industry, banned the sale of American whiskey in some provinces when Trump threatened to affiliate with the country and set up a 25 % tariff on Canadian goods. In August, Jack Daniel’s primary company, Brown-Farman, who has seen widespread holidays and its co-ordination closure over the past one year, said its sales have decreased by more than 60 %, which has suffered a significant financial loss to the family-run business.
As we have recently reported, major US distilies like MGP have responded to a decline in the demand for whiskey by reducing their production. And only last week it came to the news that Diajeev had eliminated the production of two US Distillery in Texas, Balkonz and George Dekal’s home in Tennessee. According to the Treasury report, the amount of Vasaki inventory in the United States has increased threefold despite the decline in demand over the past decade. In other words, there is a whiskey gluten and companies are backing up to deal with this situation.
We reached the Aast Spirits Council for comment, and got some insight from Hassan Baker, senior director of the economic studies. According to Bakir, the monthly whiskey production begins in October of October 2024.
