Europol has closed the archaeological market, one of a long -lasting dark web markets, but the blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs says the markets are extremely agreement to close.
Europol said Monday that it had closed the central infrastructure of the archaeological market in the Netherlands through a series of raids consisting of six countries.
The raids targeted the personal and technical infrastructure of the key archaeological, in which the alleged administrator, a German citizen, was arrested in Spain, in which he said in Europol that he had also arrested a moderator in Germany and Sweden and the largest shopkeepers of the site.
Such dark web -based markets rely on crypto currencies for trade, and archaeologists used the privacy -based token Monero (XMR) for their transactions.
The Market Place worked for five years, and Europol said that the site and its alleged operators were tracked down to the financial flow, including “the most investigative works of the years”.
Dark web market down but not out
Despite the growing efforts to enforce the law, the blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs said in a report on Monday that even when the dark web platforms fall, “the environmental system is extremely adaptive,” the shop with illegal shopkeepers on telegram and signal apps.
“These peers offer models with a faster turn, low fee, and less risk of eliminating the platform, which complicates the implementation efforts,” said TRM Labs.
TRM Labs said that after the 2022 shutdown of the Russian Hydra Market Place, a new Russian market popped up to replace it immediately.
He added, “Although some Dark Net operators, especially Western Dark Net Markets, have historically tried brands or external scams after law enforcement action, but the complete scale revolution appears to be less common.”
Archeology compared to Silk Road
Yuopol said archaeologists had more than 600,000 consumer base, which is the volume of total transactions of at least 250 million euros ($ 287 million) and more than 17,000 lists, which have been developed by the highest number of illegal drug sales, including cocaine, MDMA and Amphitamine.
It was one of the few dark web markets that allowed the sale of fantasy and artificial opioids.
“The endurance, scale and reputation of the platform within the criminal community now holds it with the Dark Net Markets such as the Dream Market and Silk Road, which are notorious for their role in facilitating drug trafficking,” said Europol.
Dark Web Market Operators Strategy to Avoid Law
TRM Labs said law enforcement agencies are succeeding in taking down the Dark Net platforms, but their operators are using laundering revenue through the pseudonym domain registration, rapidly reorganizing and avoiding the law.

“The collapse of the archaeological market is a clear indication that law enforcement agencies, which are supported by advanced blockchain intelligence, can affect the most illegal platforms,” said TRM Labs.
“But the flexibility and evolution of these networks emphasizes the need for real -time monitoring to stay beyond cross -border cooperation, technical innovation, and the next generation of dark net risks.”
