Retro gaming handheld maker Ayano has finally revealed the design of its first Android phone, which has been teased since August. Fittingly, it’s also a throwback.
The Pocket Play has a screen that slides out to reveal a full set of inset physical controls, including a D-Pad, ABC-Fact buttons, and two circular touchpads. There’s also a twin set of shoulder buttons on the back of the phone, though there’s no sign of a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Unfortunately, we all know that. PocketPlay is only confirmed to launch “soon,” and the Kickstarter campaign page doesn’t reveal anything.
It actually is Second Xperia has paid homage to this year, following Unbrink’s RG slide. The Pocket Play RG looks considerably sleeker than the Slide, and should be able to replace your phone rather than just play games — we expect it to cost a lot more than the Slide’s $189 price tag, though.
