“BMW” and “off-roading” rarely appear in the same phrase-as long as, of course, you are talking about it when we did an X5 rock crawling. But with the growing popularity of uneven SUV, Bavaria’s biggest car maker is now taking a look at its alternative to the most successful Mercedes -Benz G class.
According to a report of Automoto NewsLike the BMWG class, the same vein is seriously considering off-road SUVs in the same vein-which celebrates its recently developed 600,000th unit. The report claims the company’s insiders claim that production may begin in the second half of 2029 in BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina, the plant.

Internally, the G -74 named G -74, the new SUV, will be mounted on the upgrade version of the BMW X5 platform. BMW’s Hallow SUV is also expected to serve as a successor to the XM, which is expected to leave the lineup after a dirty reception by 2028.
As a semi -replacing for XM, BMW’s first dedicated off -road will not be cheap. XM is currently in the US, starting at 160,775, with the high output label trim now the only version is available after the base model is closed. For comparisons, entry level Mercedes G550 starts at 9 149,400.
Of course, if you want to go to a BMW road today, the brand offers a more uneven version of the X5. Equipped with the X-off-road package, which includes all terrain tires, a modest ride height lift, and more-the X5 starts at 80,175.
