LEGO Mario Kart characters can now compete against Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles thanks to the launch of the first Sonic Racing: Cross Worlds LEGO set. Exactly one year after LEGO Super Mario moved beyond platforming playsets with buildable karts, LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog has made the leap from platform to racetrack. LEGO Sonic Racing is included in the launch lineup Sonic speedster electric car And featuring a two-pack Silver’s car vs. Knuckles’ monster truck.

This 378-piece playset includes Knuckles and silver minifigures, Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, and several accessories, including a toolbox on wheels and a starter light. The toolbox has two chaos emeralds at the top and pretend tools to hold minifigures while working on their vehicles.
This is Silver the Hedgehog’s first appearance in the LEGO Sonic Collection. Measurements for his car aren’t listed, but it appears to be roughly the same size as a speedster lighting race car. Enchidna has ignited a large red and black monster truck that is decorated with flames. The complete monster truck model is 5 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches.

The 126-piece Speedster Lighting Race Car measures 4.5 x 2 x 1 inches and comes with a LEGO Sonic minifigure. If you open the front hood, you’ll find a Chaos Emerald. The playset also comes in three gold colors with suction cups that stick to flat surfaces.

Super Sonic vs. Egg Drillster is one of the best playsets in LEGO’s Sonic the Hedgehog lineup. The 590-piece building set has a bunch of interactive components and includes seven characters, including three minifigures: Super Sonic, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman. There are minifigure accessories for two characters—Post and Peeky—Shadow and Super Sonic. The remaining two characters are Egg Pawn Badunk and Reprogrammed Gunwing minifigures.
Dr. Eggman’s Egg Driller vehicle is the biggest part of this build. The moving vehicle measures 9.5 x 5 x 3 inches and includes a dock for the rotating drill as well as the gun wing. The set also features a miniature laboratory construction with a desk, minifigure chair, and a destructible wall. You can knock through the wall with the vehicle’s spinning drill or by using the buildable speed sphere launcher piloted by Super Sonic or Shadow.

Other notable Sonic the Hedgehog LEGO deals include the 290-piece Storm vs. Metal Sonic Set .1 for $25.17 (was $30) and the Team Sonic Command Truck for $63 (was $70). The Super Sonic vs. Egg Drillster is one of a handful of Sonic playsets recently discontinued by Lego. If you’re interested in Shadow’s Escape, Knuckles’ Guardian Mech, and Tails’ Adventure Boat, you’ll want to pick them up soon. All three sets will probably sell out soon, as will the Nixles and Master Emerald Shrine and Shadow Hedgehog display models.
Amazon also has deals on some other Sonic sets that aren’t retiring anytime soon, including the Nixles vs. Dr. Eggman Egg Crusher Mech for $40.49 (was $45) and the Super Shadow vs. Biolizard for $39 (was $45). And if you’re interested in a larger display model, LEGO Ideas: Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone is still available from third-party sellers for around the retail price. Officially retired by Lego, the 1,125-piece build was Lego’s first Sonic set, and is the only model with more than 1,000 pieces.
