A plumbing contractor has been ordered to pay the Million 1 million to the State Compensation Insurance Fund as part of the Workers’ Complaint Prosecution.
GPS plumbing owner, 41 -year -old Daniel G Birdwell, proved a crime for a count of workers’ camp insurance premium fraud. A judge also imposed a two -year offense probation, 320 hours of community service and ordered Birdwell to pay $ 10,000 per month for compensation.
The state fund provided workers’ compartment coverage to GPS plumbing from June 2016 to May 2021. The fraud was first discovered when a State Fund Special Investigation Unit saw a difference between the wages given to the company’s employment development and the wages awarded to the state fund were reported during the policy audit.
The State Fund then audited the GPS Plumbing Workers Comp’s Camp Records, which investigators say that millions of dollars were exposed in a non -report payroll. The State Fund’s Special Investigation Unit submitted a report of its suspected fraud case to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office and the California Department of Insurance.
Deputy District Attorney David Baghari took legal action against the case.
