
There hasn’t been a new mainline Fable game since 2010, which is now 15 years in the making. The fantasy action-RPG series known for serving humor and some slice-of-life elements is finally coming back, even though it’s only been a few years since the reboot, simply called Legend (or as it’s sometimes called Legend 4 by fans). Let’s take a look at what we know about Xbox’s next legendary game.

Our first look at Narrative didn’t give away any story or gameplay details, but it certainly set the mood. The trailer shows a fairy blowing through a beautiful fantasy forest, before suddenly being eaten by a giant toad. It fits the unsettling tone that the fiction series is known for. And notably, the trailer only refers to it as “fiction,” implying that it could be a reboot.
During the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023, it’ll be a few years before we see a new Legend trailer, but we did get one—what looked like some hints of actual gameplay footage. Although after more than two years, when this is being written, it appears that the game is not tracking for a 2025 launch. British actor and comedian Richard Ewood plays Dave, a large-scale gardener who isn’t too fond of our heroes.
