After first launching its personal health coach in October, Fitbit is now ready to bring its AI-powered workout planner to the iPhone.
Fitbit announced on Tuesday that the feature will be available on iOS over the next few weeks, so it may take a while for it to appear on your device. This is a public preview, which means Fitbit is collecting feedback, and you may encounter errors from time to time.
The feature uses Google’s Gemini AI model to offer a conversational assistant that guides you to improve your fitness using your historical health data. For example, you can tell the app to create a training plan for a marathon, including a target completion date, using your current fitness to guide you.
It’s also designed to adapt to changes, allowing you to interact with and to the AI through conversational messages.
PCMag’s Andrew Jibert used a personal health coach to plan a month’s worth of workouts, and he found that the workouts he tried helped him improve both his motivation and fitness in just five weeks.
“While not perfect, Google Personal Health Coach is ahead of the pack. Some much-needed refinement may come as the software nears its final launch,” Jibert said.
You’ll need a premium subscription and a modern Fitbit tracker to access this feature. There are 13 compatible devices, including the entire Pixel Watch lineup, Fitbit Charge 5 and 6, Inspire 2 and 3, Lux, Sense and Sense 2, and Versa 2 and 3.

Alongside the iPhone expansion, Fitbit is also rolling out these features in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK. It will be available on both Android and iPhone in every region.
The news comes a week after a report said that Apple plans to ramp up development of an AI doctor feature in its Health app. According to sources who spoke to Bloomberg, Apple is set to scale back its planned scope and instead allow Siri to respond to a selection of health options.
