Schmidt spoke on Wednesday about an incident of the “All -In” podcast. In this case, Schmidt said he was “basically, not in favor of working at home,” because it prevents learning among junior employees.
He mentioned that he learned from “big people” while he was working in the Sun Micro system, a computer manufacturer who bought Oracle for $ 7.4 billion in 2010, staying in the office and listening to the conversation. Schmidt worked in Sun from 1983 to 1997, which became the Vice President of the General Systems Group, beyond the role of the software manager.

“20 think about something that the world works,” Schmidt said on the podcast. “When I think about how much I learned when I was on the sun, just listen to the big people who were five or 10 years older than me, discuss with each other, personally, how do you create it in this new thing?”
Although Schmidt said he was “in favor of the balance of work life”, he mentioned that the tech workers have to do “some trade” between the two.
“If you are going to tech, and you are going to win, you have to do something,” said Schmidt, “said Schmidt.

Schmidt was the CEO of Google for a decade from 2001 to 2011. Last year, he said in a conversation with Stanford University that Google was lagging behind in the AI race due to remote work policies for its staff. Google allows employees to work from home two days a week.
