General Motors is remembering more than 62,000 trucks due to the brake problem, which could potentially cause fire. This problem affects a specific group of Chevrolet Silvarado models made between 2019 and 2024, mostly from heavy duty 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD lines. The company reminded the federal regulators in late June that after determining whether the brake fluid system could be leaked to the power components, which increases the risk of fire, whether the truck is moving or not.

The problem starts in the brake pressure sensor. General Motors found that brake fluids could be leaked in the area where power parts were located. When that happens, it can cause a short circuit. If the circuit gets heated, it can cause a fire. This means that people can be at risk of driving or even parking these trucks. Although the report did not mention any injury or accidents, the risk of taking action and remembering the action for the automatic maker was so high.

Most of the trucks involved in this memory are 2023 models of the year. About 10,000 of them were built between January 2023 and March 2024. According to the manufacturing record, these trucks were designed with a design that did not contain the safety seal that now has new models. The 2024 trucks that were developed using the latest wiring with silicone sailor have not been included in the memory, as this material prevents brake fluid from reaching sensitive parts of the system.

Overall, 62,468 vehicles are part of this memory. The defects include several models and types of types. The largest group includes 2023 Chevrolet Silvarado 5500 HD, followed by versions of 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019. There are also trucks of 6500 HD and 4500 HD lines, while in small numbers. A few versions made in specific time frames are being called back. Old models, made before 2019, use a different part setup and not be affected.

It is expected that the company will start notifying the Silvrado owners about the issue and will provide repair without any price. Technicians will inspect the brake pressure switch and other related parts and make any necessary changes. Until then, drivers are being encouraged to stand their trucks outside and far away from buildings, if something happens. Since the risk of fire, even though it is standing, additional precautions are being advised.

The memories of the car are not unusual, but when they include something that can be set on fire, they attract more attention. This is not the only memory in recent weeks that affect the auto industry. Another manufacturer recently called back more than 130,000 vehicles for a separate problem, including parts that could be loose. These types of problems highlight that small design flaws can also be serious when they affect the safety systems.

For General Motors, this Silvarado memory adds a long list of adjustments and reforms made in various brands and model years. Most memories handle fast, which is repaired by the manufacturer. In this case, indicating which vehicles needed fixed the details in production records, including the presence or absence of some wire coatings.

Truck owners must check their Vin numbers through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or General Motors website. In this way, they can confirm whether their vehicle is included and will take the next steps. Since the company operates through repair and informs the affected people, drivers should take any warning symbols – such as brake system warnings or burning smell – avoid driving very seriously and till it examine.

Such vehicles protect consumers reminding users that even new trucks are not always free from defects. Regular maintenance, attention to memories, and following the manufacturer’s guidelines can help prevent major problems on the road.
