Let’s face it: America’s road infrastructure is less than perfect. Pits, Poke Marks and Disadfasts set up millions of miles of flooring millions of miles in this country. And every day, it is almost impossible to predict a lot of vehicles on these roads. Almost
General Motors recently filed a patent application for the system aimed at warning the drivers of the road before they see it. GM Authority The details revealed that GM had initially filed an application on December 15, 2023, to the US Patent and the Trade Mark Office, though it was not publicly published until June 19, 2025. It lives under a patent number: US 2025/0200526 A1.
The GM system will use sensors and cameras on vehicles, which will collect road data such as suspension migration, wheels circulation, and vibration when they drive. The company will then use these cameras in real time to display road flaws.
From there, the system will determine the road maintenance score, which reflects the condition of the road. Is enough score poor? GM – In theory – can send this information to officials to pay attention immediately.
The GM system will also recommend alternative routes of drivers through the navigation system in the car if it detects a broken floor on their way. Although it was not described in the patent, we would expect that such a system would work in perfect work with GM’s super cruise, which would soon have roadways worth 750,000 miles in the United States and Canada.
This is definitely an interesting idea-and one that can theoretically save drivers in thousands of dollars of repair bills, especially looking at the US average road conditions.

Earlier this year, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) gave the US infrastructure “C” grade, as reported Kindness. Asce bridges, dams, and, of course. The roads take place, which takes place once every four years.
Former President Biden’s $ 1 trillion infrastructure deal is a improvement compared to the previous ranking, which became a law in 2021.
“We have seen that investment payment has begun, but we still have a lot of work to do,” said Darren Olson, chair of the ASCE report. “By investing in our infrastructure, we are making our economy more efficient, we are strengthening it (and) we are making ourselves more competitive globally.”
Of course, this is not the only thing in the patent GM’s weapons that aims to help drivers.
Last May, GM filed a patent in the name of “evaluation of a car occupying mental fitness and retaliation.” Basically, a road’s anger will use the counter to prevent the “unwanted situation” while on the road.
A separate GM patent filing from 2023 aims to reduce the headlight glare from vehicles coming through the auto -damning windshield.
It should be noted that GM has not received patents for these inventions. But we can expect that some of these technology reaches the road and eventually improves our lives.
