It is common for us to respond to difficult situations. Sometimes we can’t just help ourselves, even when the situation is generally not a laugh – like sadness. For example, more than 300,000 users have a complete subdate that is stronger to post only depression memes.

Many of us use such self -deprecation to deal with uncomfortable conditions, or just to laugh at someone. When it comes to sadness, though, should we re -consider it?

Question: Is it okay to joke about my sadness?

The short answer is: Yes! Humor can be a tremendous way. It can help you see things from different perspectives and not take yourself too seriously. You may have been hosting a pity party for a while for yourself – making fun of the way you are going on can help you get out of this error and focus on something outside your sadness.

For example: When I was in a grade school, I hosted a birthday event for my mental illness. It was five years old, so I threw a kindergarten third, with party hats, painting books, and completed with a playout.

Sometimes, you have to laugh so that you don’t cry.

Humor also gives you a new way to talk about your sadness and share your experiences. Making a joke about how you are feeling makes others “safe” to come into and understand in their world. Through the jokes, you can tell you that without inviting you a great conversation (if you don’t want to do one), but still indicate the other person what you are feeling.

    Dial it back

Although it may be okay to joke about sadness, and even a little treatment, some things need to be considered before breaking this joke. First, think about how you want to understand other people and what are you going.

Permanently exposing your sadness can be taught to other people that this is not really a big deal, if you have a serious event and when you need the understanding and help of others. In this case, they may have a difficult time to recognize how bad things you have, because you have taught them otherwise.

In addition, it is possible to rely heavily on humor. If you make jokes about what you are doing, it faces your symptoms and the challenges you face with a physician or psychologist.

Mental health care is almost completely dependent on itself. A mental health professionals will only know what you call them, because there are no blood tests or MRIs that can diagnose mental health.

So if you permanently report or highlight your experiences, your mental health professionals may not be able to help you as they can.

Simpulate: humor may be a good way to cope with your sadness, but make sure you consider the long -term consequences of highlighting your situation. A balance is excellent – when you serve your best to make jokes and explain it when it is better to feel (and express) your whole emotions.
