We have recently tested a security event that can potentially include your Plex account information. We understand that the actual impact of this incident is limited. However, the action to ensure your account is safe is required by you.
What happened
An unauthorized third party has access to a limited customer data subset from one of our databases. While we immediately presented the incident, the information that was accessed included emails, usernames, and passwords safely.
Passwords of any account that can be accessed were safely in accordance with the best methods, meaning they cannot read by a third party. Often, we recommend that you reset your password immediately and assure that we do not save credit card data on our servers, so this information was not compromised in this case.
What are we doing?
We have already focused on the method that it used to access the third party system, and we are making additional reviews to ensure that the safety of all our systems has been tightened to prevent future attacks.
What should you do
We request that you immediately visit your Plex account password and reset, while doing so there is a checkbox to “sign the attached devices after a change in the password”, which we suggest that you make it worth. It will sign your security with all your devices (including any Plex media server), and then you will need to re -sign with your new password. We understand that this means a bit more work for you, but it will provide your account extra security.
Additional safety measures you can take
We remind you this Plex nobody will ever arrive on email to ask for a password or credit card number for you ever. Further protection of the account Wee, we also recommend to activate a two -factor verification on your Plex account if you haven’t already done so.
