Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently facing a major outage that has taken down online services including Amazon, Alexa, Snapchat, etc. FortniteChat GPT, Epic Games Store, Epic Online Services, and more. The AWS Status Checker is reporting that multiple services are “impacted” by operational issues, and that the company is “investigating increased error rates and latency for multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 region”—though the outage is also affecting services in other regions globally.
Users on Reddit are reporting that the Alexa smart assistant is unable to respond to questions or complete requests, and in my experience, I’ve found that routines like the default alarm aren’t working. The AWS problem also appears to affect platforms running on its cloud network, including Anxiety, AirTable, Canva, and the McDonald’s app. The cause of the outage has not been confirmed, and it is unclear when regular service will be restored.

AWS Dashboard first reported issues affecting the US-EAST-1 region at 3:11 AM ET. Amazon said in an update published at 3:51 a.m. ET, “We are actively engaged and working for both.
AWS outages in the Americas-East-One region caused widespread disruptions in 2023, 2021, and 2020, forcing multiple websites and platforms offline for several hours before regular services were restored.
