Michigan Attorney General Dana Nestal announced a contract with Domer Industries, LLC and EDDPAPpers, Inc. (together, Dometer) to resolve the Technic Camp near Port Horon, the Inc. Site Per-Per-Florullaville-Florullaville. Nestal filed a lawsuit against paper preparation in December 2022.
Under the terms of the settlement, the Dometer has agreed to remove the compost piles from the PFA on the site and the disposal of contaminated material in the licensed landfill. In addition, the doomer will investigate the PFA in the surface waters on the site.
“I launched the PFAS legislature project in 2020 to relieve the PFAS -affected communities in 2020, and this settlement is another step in the right direction,” Nestal said in a statement. “It reflects my commitment to protect the natural resources of the public and the Michigan. My office will continue this goal, whether it is through the courts or by cooperative efforts.”
In this settlement in the 31st Circuit Court in St. Claire County as a viable consent by the 31st Circuit Court, the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (Eagle), to address the PFA on the site, includes the payment of 000 300,000. The Domer will also cover the state’s past monitoring costs and the costs of litigation, including attorney fees.
“This Michigan is a recent example of positive results through a partnership with the Attorney General’s Office of the PFAS Action Response Team,” said Abigil Hendershit, executive director of the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team (MPART). “Attorney General Nestal’s PFAS legislature plan has helped MPAT to deal with PFAS pollution at several places across the state. These measures help protect our communities from chemicals and we are looking forward to additional positive results from these issues that are still pending.”
The proceedings were brought under a state -approved agreement with the Special Assistant Attorney General (SAAGS), which is especially sustained to assist in the complex PFAS legalization. Currently, under the SAAG agreement, four PFAS cases have been registered, which are pending in both the state and the federal court.
