New Mexico’s Superintendent Insurance Alice Kane has increased the maximum residential property insurance limits for policies through New Mexico Fair access to the insurance requirements, from $ 350,000 to $ 750,000.
The move was adopted by the NM Fair Plan Governing Committee. This residential landlord cleanses the way to make the insurance safe as they rebuild the forest fires.
“This is a very important first step to help New Mexico residents secure home insurance in rebuilding houses that have been destroyed by wildfire, Ken said. “There is still a work that needs to be done to help small businesses through the limits of commercial property insurance coverage and reduction of home hardships.”
Ken provided temporary approval to raise the maximum coverage limits across the state for one to four family residences across the state. Temporary approval also allows a builder’s risk policy to be issued by a zip code for a one -year period and is renewed for a maximum of five years when an emergency order is announced by the governor.
The temporary approval of the superintendent will end on June 20.
New Mexico Senate Bill 81 amended the NM Fair Plan Act. If the legislature is approved and signed by the governor, the bill will increase residential structures ($ 225,000-, more than 350,000), and up to 2 million on trade structures (more than 250,000- $ 1,000,000) property insurance coverage limits to 50 750,000.
