A federal appeal court ruled Thursday, saying the National Football League Minnesota Vikings Defense Coordinator Brian Flores could not force the Flores’ racial prejudice to mediate with the league.
In the 3-0 verdict, the second US Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said that a clause of giving Commissioner Roger Godel to unilateral authority in the NFL Constitution was “clearly invalid” because it would refuse to mediate the floor “in any meaningful meaning of the word.”
NFL spokesman Brian McKarti said: “We disagree with the panel’s decision, and will seek further review.”
The 44 -year -old Flores, who is a black, sued the NFL in February 2022, saying he was subjected to a “shameful” interview for head coaching positions so that the teams could comply with the diversity recruitment requirements under the League’s Rooney Rule.
The proposed class action has been accused of discrimination against black candidates for high coaching and administrative jobs.

Other defendants included New York’s giants and Houston Technons, which were immediately fired as the head coach of Miami Dolphins in January 2022. Flores was later interviewed, and Denver Broncos, who interviewed him in 2019 before joining Miami.
In Manhattan, US District Judge Valerie Caprony ruled in March 2023 that some of the Floors’ claims were in the federal court, and the appeal court agreed.
The Circuit Judge Judge Cabrons wrote, a mediation agreement that “forces a party to present its disputes to the basic and procedures of the Principal Executive Officer of his negative party, which is just a mediation contract in the name.”
Floors lawyers welcomed the decision.
“For a long time, the NFL has mainly relied on the process of discriminatory and unfair mediation,” said lawyers Douglas Wagdoor, David Gotleb and John Alttrax in a joint statement. “This order sends a clear message: this process should end.”
Caprony also urged the flour claims against the dolphins, and to force the claims of two other coaches against the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans.
It cited specific terms related to the club in coaches’ job contracts. Those decisions were not part of the flor’s appeal.
The NFL has denied claims of racial discrimination.
In February, Godel confirmed the league’s diversity, until US President Donald Trump called for a nationwide diversity measures.
The case is the New York Football Giants Inkat El, the second US Circuit Court of Appeal, number 23-1185.
