Openi unveiled the GPT5 on Thursday, which the company is calling its “smart, fastest, and still very useful model”. In a press release, the company said that the new model “has a specialist -level intelligence in everyone’s hands” and “all our previous models have an important jump in intelligence.”
On Wednesday, Open CEO Sam Altman called it a “big upgrade” and said that after the new model, it felt “sad” using old versions.

In addition to coding, mathematics, health and other fields, the new GPT5 also allows users to choose “personality” in settings. The default personality is still available and is known for “clear, neutral and adaptation.” Other options include “sink” (sarcastic and dry, two -sided but jokes). “Robot” (precise, emotional, direct responses without additional words); “Hearer” (calm with warm, lateback, and “light -minded”); And “stupid” (playful, curious, celebrating knowledge and discovery).
And while previous reports have highlighted the sophistication of past models, Open says GPT – 5 is “less effectively pleased” and “uses less unnecessary amulets.”
The company wrote, “It should feel less like chatting with AI and a helpful friend with a PhD – level intelligence.”
