According to those familiar with the attack, a renamware attack Mark and Spencer group is the cause of a disruption to the PLC.
The company has tried to recover it for more than a week called “cyber event”, prevents online orders, and has stopped taking some payments in its stores in the UK. According to two men familiar with the matter, a group of suspected cyber criminals hit the company with a kind of renamware known as the Dragon Force, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not have the option to share information about the investigation.
According to cybersecurity experts, the invaders use the dragon force renasmore to encrypt files on the computers of the victims, then demand a payment in cryptocurrency so that they can be unlock. Experts say that the creator of the Dragon Force, whose identity is not known, acts like a criminal cartel, and deducts any income earned by extortion, leasing other hackers to their malicious software and infrastructure.
An M&S spokeswoman refused to comment on the identification of Ransamware or hackers. It is unclear whether hackers have demanded payment from M&S, or M&S is engaged in any negotiations.
The M&S has hired external cybercare experts to help investigate and manage the incident. The company said in a statement, “We are taking steps to protect our network and making sure we can maintain customer service.”
Since the incident was reported on April 22, the shares of Mark and Spencer in London have dropped by 6.2 percent.
According to the Broadcom CyberScureti Unit Cemetics, hackers working with the Dragon Force claimed more than 90 victims last year and targeted companies in various industries, including health care, manufacturing and telecommunications. According to cyber experts, these attacks cover more than a dozen countries in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
M&S, which has more than a thousand stores in the UK, said in a statement April 22 that it was unable to take less than payments and had disrupted the “click and deposit” orders. The company also stopped online orders and they still have to resume.
There have been reports of differences in shelves as the company struggles with the availability of some items. According to Sky News, hundreds of agency staff were told in M&S’s main clothing and home warehouse that they did not come on Monday as the company was fighting the issue.
The temperature is currently rising in the UK for the fifth day on Tuesday, and with the closure of online orders, the cyber event means that M&S is missing out on sales of its spring summer.
“I believe the demand for summer clothing is probably growing this week,” said Kate Kalwart, an investor of Investigo. “The first quarter will affect the profitability of the first quarter without doubt.”
Retailers are proud of a so -called ‘Omni Channel’ approach offer to users where they can buy in both stores and online. An online business creates a small proportion, in which web or app -based sales have participated in the last year’s retailers’ wear and home sales, but it has long been stopped online orders as it weighs on the business.
