The Reddutdestor Inc. filed a lawsuit against the artificial intelligence firm Anthropk, saying it had used the content of a social media company without permission to train its AI models.
In a case filed in San Francisco Superior Court on Wednesday, it has been alleged that Anthropic tried to access reddate data more than 100,000 times since July last July. Reddate said the “unauthorized commercial use of its content” violated its rules and exploited users’ personal data without their consent.
A human spokesperson said the company “does not agree with Reddit’s claims and will defend itself vigorously,” AI firm, which was launched by a group of former employees, has taken a public position to be more based on safety and responsibility than some of its rivals.
A social media platform based in San Francisco, Reddett, calls the emphasis on “empty marketing tricks” on trust and honesty. Reddutt said in legalization, AI startup “Bill itself as a white night of the AI industry,” yet “this is nothing.”
“We believe in an open internet – this does not mean open for commercial exploitation,” Ben Lee’s chief legal officer, Ben Li, said in an email. “We will not tolerate profitable companies, such as the return of the Redditters commercially exploited for billions of dollars or without respect for their privacy.”
In an interview, Lee said Reddit had several conversations with anthropic in an attempt to reach the licensing agreement, as with other AI companies like Openi and Alfabit Inc. Google. Lee said he was recently optimistic about reaching an agreement and viewed the legalism as the company’s last option to force Anthropic to a bargaining table.
Lee would like to reach an agreement outside the court, as the legal process could be long.
The case is included in high -level complaints against AI companies, including Meta Platforms Inc. and Openi, claiming unauthorized use of copyright content to train their productive AI models.
In March, a Federal Judge in New York ruled that a copyright violation brought by the New York Times and other newspapers could lead to the alleged use of ChatToats and other AI tools for allegedly unauthorized use of news articles. Newspapers are looking for billions of dollars of losses because their right to illegal use of content content.
