This is not a small sale for RR auction, a great opportunity for Omega enthusiasts.
In fact, two speedmasters Richard “Dick” Gordon Junior and Edgar “Ed” Mitchell, given to NASA’s astronauts, are being auctioned in the auctionhouse’s space research sale this month. From now on, October 16, the online auction contains more than 600 lots that run from astronauts to museums, from astronauts to museums.
The sales stars are of course two speed masters. The astronaut Walter Sheera took the first high -speed space in 1962, before NASA had green in 1965 the model of all space missions model. The astronaut buzz Elderin wore a speedmaster with the moon’s surface in 1969, causing him to become the official “Monach”.

Mitchell’s Speed Master Professional (Refrequent BA 145.022) is one of the 1,014 created by Omega to celebrate Apollo Moonlanding. For the first time, the watchmaker presented the model in 18 carat gold instead of steel. This reference includes a “Om” (or masf) dial of solid gold with a black tone and a burgundy “more than ninety dot” bezel. It has a manual Calibr 861 movement inside it.

The example of Mitchell, whose number is 1002, was engraved with its name, its mission and the famous line: “Over time, over time, mark victory in human place.” It was presented to Mitchell after the successful moon landing of Apollo 14 in 1971, during which he became the sixth man operated on the lunar level. With the letter of authenticity of his daughter, Carlin Mitchell, this watch is expected to be more than 100,000.

The example of Gordon, which is expected to be sold at more than 100,000, is also expected to be sold at Omega’s first “tribute astronauts” created as part of the series. These gold tim paces – in practice are the same commemoration as Apollo Speeds, which was presented at a special gala dinner in Houston on November 25, 1969. Two were presented to President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spro Agneo, with the remaining 26, given to the US -presented astronauts. Gordon was still in Quran with Apollo 12 mission, but shortly thereafter, he found his personal kind. The engraving is a small mistake instead of “F” for its mid -early. It comes with a Gordon -signed letter.
