According to S&P Global Rating, Swiss RR is on the list of 40 largest insurance list in the world in 2025, followed by Munich RE and Hanor RER.
The Burkeshire comes to Heathway Insurance Group Number Four, while the Lloyd is ranked number 5 and the score is at number six. (See the chart below for the full list).
For the purpose of overcoming the top 40 rankings of global insurance and comparing the insurance report under GAAP vs. IFRS 17 Accounting Standards, the rating agency quoted Grass Premium for pure re -insurance business (GPW).
“For those reporting under IFRS 17 and they do not publish GPW, we estimated pure insurance GPW and marked them in ranking. At the same time, we added overall insurance revenue for insurance through IFRS 17 filers,” S&P “as S&P.
S&P said that an important challenge to make this report was drawing a clear line between insurance and basic insurance activities of companies, “especially in cases where the insurance operation is a distribution within the company and not a separate business.”
