In 2023, we began AI Assisted Research in Westla, starting a new era of legal research run by Generative A. This helped professionals get faster, more widely discovered, and with less effort to help surface insights.
But legal research is a multi -faceted process, where researchers repetly review what is found on the basis of new information and change the course with intelligence. And they just don’t find. They use a variety of research tools to find the relevant information that can be more efficient and effective in conjunction with the search. Through Agent AI, we can imitate the best methods of great researchers using a full research tool set that offers the entire research tool set, key numbers, cacitetes, precision research ratings, and tools such as mirror interpretations.
We are introducing deep research: an AI-local legal research system that simply does not summarize search results. It makes plans, reviews and strategies like a great researcher, and uses a complete set of research tools offered by Westla. Deep research not only follows the best methods of lover researchers, but also used its AI agents in parallel to the research tools, which makes research faster. What took hours now takes minutes, and what was manual is now manufactured by AI agents that are specifically designed for legal domain.
Does deeper research make different
While others lay the normal AI in the upper part of the legal content, we have mainly made something more advanced: AI agents have used Vestlav’s special research tools to use the Vestlau’s special research tools to use a special research tools to use unusual research.
These are AI agents:
- How to refer to legal research, like a specialist directed by Vestlaw and practical law, lawyers
- Equipped with a special research toolset in Westla, which includes key numbers, site, precision research rating, law interpretations, and more.
- Fuel through the sophisticated legal content of Westlaw and practical law
- The domain -related workflow skills were guided by the orchestration logic in decades.
We have spent more than a year pushing AI Frontier models into their limits in legal research workflows. We have experienced where they are successful and unsuccessful. We have studied how they argue and how they benefit from treating them like legal researchers. We have designed for the use of long documents, multilateral reasoning, and structural tools, working with domain legal content and workflows.

And we didn’t alone. We reviewed and tested deep research, plans and capabilities with more than 1,200 users to ensure that we made it right. This is not just an easy relationship with the shelf research capabilities of large LLM providers. This is a product change in the root of real tests, real obstacles, and consumer real experiences and expectations. This level of AI agent’s sovereignty, reasoning and transparency will explain the future workflower, and we are excited to bring it to our customers with legal research.
Smooth integration with the council
Deep Research has been highlighted on the homepage of our new version of Westla, and it has also been fully embedded in the council’s experience, so our users can access it through the latest guiding workflow in the Council Legal.
Made for what is next
Next week, deep research will be available in West Lao Advance and Council Legal! I am very excited to use my customers to use it, and I am grateful to the most talented teams of Thomson Writers who have worked hard to bring our customers deep research. This is a huge jump and still, still, just start. We see a lot of abilities to further develop this technology in the flow of legal work and are happy with the upcoming progress. Keep up!
