A group of Republican lawmakers is urging the Trump administration to ban the sale of TP link networking products, including the company’s popular Wi -Fi routers.
The departments of trade, defense, and justice are allegedly investigating the TP link for national security risks. On Wednesday, 12 GOP senators, including lawmakers, wrote to the Department of Commerce to raise the voice of cooperation for their investigation, and called on the White House to stop the sale of TP link products in the United States.
He wrote to Secretary Howard Lotnik, “The deep ties with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the use of hunter prices to eliminate reliable US alternatives, and embedded foreign surveillance and destructive capabilities in our networks have been termed a clear and current threat.”
Lawmakers claim that TP link is a security threat because the Chinese state -run hackers have previously exploited the company’s routers and networking devices, which has provided them with a way to cyber -spinning within the United States.
The letter does not include any evidence that shows that the TP link has been deliberately assisted by Chinese hackers. Nevertheless, lawmakers have alleged that TP Link is offering low “hunter” prices for its products so that it can “get about 60 percent of the US retail router and the Wi -Fi system market.” As a result, the Chinese government may allegedly return the TP link hardware to launch future cybertics on the United States.

.
The letter added that “for these reasons, the trade should immediately ban the future sale of TP Link Soho (small and home office) networking equipment in the United States. Every day we fail to comply, the CCP wins, while US rivals suffer, and US rivals suffer.”
The FBI has long been concerned that in the event of a dispute between China and the United States, hackers organized by the Chinese state are laying the foundation for disrupting US major infrastructure.

Although the ban will be strict, some former US security personnel want a crackdown on the TP link, saying it is important to remove such devices before becoming a threat to the country. Other former federal officials have also said that the ban will send a message to Beijing that its state -owned hacking will result in companies based in China that may be involved.
However, TP Link says the letter is based on false information. “These allegations are clearly false, and we look forward to setting a direct record about our company,” the vendor told PCMAG, “Clearly, TP Link is not a state -run company, it is not ‘deep relationships’ with the Chinese Communist Party, and they are completely independent.”

Last year, TP-Link pushed forward to set up a new global headquarters in the California city of Erin, though its foundation was laid in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and is still the headquarters. As a result, TP-Link also told PCMAG: “As an American company, no foreign country or government, including China, has access or control over the design and manufacture of our products.”
TP Link also says it accounts for 35 % of the US market instead of only 60 %. The company added, “The allegation that China’s bad actors have used our routers for cybertics are misleading and unpleasant. Rotors manufactured by many companies have been subjected to attacks.” “TP Link has been the victim of a smear campaign, aimed at removing a competitor from the market.”
The Department of Commerce did not respond to the request to comment immediately. In the meantime, TP Link says it believes that the Department of Trade Investigation will “recognize TP link operations and product safety.”
TP Link added that it has not received any inquiries from the Justice Department.
