Verizon’s latest online safety and digital welfare tools include a feature for families that can resonate with parents more than just a certain age: a landline concept’s reboot.
The new Verizon Family Plus announced Thursday, adding software for parents to use children’s online use and real -world locations, and other things, online scams have been placed and blocked. But it also includes the family line, which Verizon describes as “re -imagined your home phone”.
This is an alternative line that will be set on up to five smartphones. Family members can also call these digits and can be included in the call.
Verizon system requirements are quite soft, which supports the mobile operating system as old as the 2016 Vintage Android 7 and 2022’s iOS 15. But there is a clear limit to the family line, which is explained by Verizon’s spokesperson for us: You can’t offer any existing number for this feature, which is already on a rich line list.

Disease control centers are tracking only using wireless use, and in the second half of 2024, it has shown that about 21 % of adults lived in residence with a landline.
A spokeswoman for Verizon said the company will try to provide family line number in the same area code that is like the current line of subscribers. In the case of DC 202 or New York’s 917, in the case of an old, close -affected area code, this is not possible.
However, users can send a family line number to a competitive provider outside Verizon, whether it be any other wireless carrier, VOIP service, or just an online phone platform like Google Voice.
