Why I Wear the Salomon XT-Whisper Sneaker Daily

As a fashion writer, fitness instructor, and commuter living in Los Angeles, I’m always on the hunt for the perfect new “it-girl” athletic sneaker. I wear shoes every single day because of my active lifestyle, so if there’s one thing I pack on every trip (and one thing I don’t feel guilty about buying multiple pairs of), it’s a sturdy, stylish running shoe. My new favorites are my Salomon XT-Whispers — from the moment I put them on, it was love at first step.

I officially bought my first pair of XT-Whispers about a month ago when I wore them to a sportswear photo shoot. These Salomon look great with any and all casual outfits—I’ve worn them with joggers, sweatpants, oversized t-shirts and bike-short combos, leggings, and more. I think they look best paired with an ankle or high sock to really lean into the old school design of the silhouette.

Look aside, it’s their sense of humor that stands out the most. If I were only packing one pair of shoes for a trip, my Salomon shoes would make the cut. These shoes require zero break-in time, which is ideal if you buy them before your trip. The support construction and cushioned OrthoLite insoles make the shoe feel and look like it conforms to my feet, which is probably why I fell in love with it so quickly.

Since I’m always on the go, the laceless lifestyle is definitely for me, and after testing out these salmon shoes, I’m afraid I won’t be able to go back. Usually, after a month of wear, my shoelaces are already extremely dirty or frayed to the point of no return, but with Salomon’s Quicklace style, I just put on my shoes, tighten a bit, and go. I also love the traction on the bottom of the sneaker, which is the best I’ve ever worn. It almost feels sharp to the touch, like the sole of a hiking boot, but it’s not heavy or cumbersome.

I’ve worn my XT-Whispers every single day for a month since then, and I’ve already debated buying another pair in the Vanilla Ice/Almond Milk colorway. I love classic white shoes, but because I’m so active, my shoes get dirty faster than the average person. The warm tones of this steel neutral shade look fresh even after 30+ days of wear, and still pair perfectly with all my favorite active and travel styles.
