I don’t call myself a camping expert, but spending a year traveling in a campervan across the United States and Canada has taught me that I can live with very little. If it comes down to it, I can live without my old creature comforts—like my precious coffee percolator, or my solar-powered charger that allows me to domscroll past bedtime—but my emotional support camping hammock is one thing I won’t leave behind.
This classic Eno hammock has been the keeper of countless camping and hiking memories over the past decade. ok, The decade– I’ve actually been carrying it with me for the past 10 years. The next time you get the urge to string a nylon sheet between two trees and relax under a canopy, trust me the Eno Singlinist Hammock is the portable bed you’ll want to lounge in.

The Enno (short for Eagle’s Nest) is the gold standard of hammocks, perhaps best known for its award-winning two-person DoubleNest design, a two-person version with over 4,500 perfect ratings on Re and Amazon. The Singlet is exactly the same, just slightly smaller in width and weight. It measures about 9.5 feet long and about five feet wide, weighing only one pound. It’s so lightweight and packs so small, I often toss it in my bag for multi-day hikes. I take
The material is a durable 70-denier nylon taffeta that is extremely soft, breathable, cooling and quick drying. This is the antagonism of hardness. The material is so silky, it glides through your fingers like a fluid. The seams are reinforced with triple stitching, which helps it hold up to 400 pounds without tearing. Despite its smaller frame, this one-person hammock has the same weight limit as the two-person version, and I can share it with my 15-pound dog—and even another person—on multiple occasions.

I will admit that I am by no means the responsible owner of the hammock. Sometimes, my Single Nest Hammock has been left hanging in my backyard for an entire month – and even then, it still shows no noticeable signs of wear or exposure to the sun. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s actually indestructible, considering the fact that it lived in my dad’s garage. Who knows How long before I inherit.
Miraculously, after 10 years of wandering around the country, stuck in the bottom of a backpack, and wedged between trees from Yosemite to the Smoky Mountains, it still has plenty of life left in it. Other reviewers have had the same experience: On ENO’s website, one customer wrote, “I’ve had the same hammock for over a decade, and it’s still as soft and durable as the first time I used it as a child.”
Many others shared that they got a much better night’s sleep in a hammock than in a tent. One 82-year-old reviewer even wrote that he “has never slept in the last 10 years” he’s had in his Eno hammock. So, what are you waiting for? An Eno hammock might be just what you need to revolutionize your entire camping experience.
