Making Instagram a separate company. Buy snap chat. Wipe all Facebook friends. Just make advertising feeds.
These were some ideas that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, had considered building his social media empire in the past years. In the past two days, he talked to a witness stand at a Federal Court House in Washington DC, where the Meta Federal Trade Commission is fighting a dissenting issue, which may require him to sell Instagram and WhatsApp.
Zuckerberg has testified for almost nine hours so far. They are expected to testify on Wednesday, followed by Sherl Sandberg. So far, the FTC has developed it to confirm its market ideology and to understand its stimulus to achieve newborn rivals.
The FTC case view is that Meta bought new rivals by buying Instagram and WhatsApp in the early 2010’s, when she feared she would develop to challenge her domination. The agency is trying to show that Meta has the power of monopoly in a market called personal social networking services, which is focused on connecting with friends and family, and includes apps snapchat and mow.
Meta argued that the FTC has developed a market definition for a marketplace to go behind the company. During his testimony on Tuesday, Zuckerberg politely resisted the FTC’s questions that tried to establish its view of the market. He testified that he sees the market as a “fluid” but he is still his top rivals.
On several occasions, the FTC pointed to the marketing language meta that was used to end its role in connecting friends and family and tried to create discrimination between Facebook and services like LinkedIn. Zuckerberg rarely offered a literal answers and will tear his nuances on how he thinks that Meta’s products are met with many other services. Certainly, Facebook advertises itself as a place to connect with friends on its sign -up page, but this is probably the only tagline that experienced a very favorable experience, he testified. And when the LinkedIn markets itself as a carrier -based service, Zuckerberg notes that some of its features are found with Meta.
Other documents presented at the trial have given a backdrop to the major decisions made in the past years, as well as the view that some alternative facts may look like. Meta may also be owned by Snap Chat, if CEO Ivan Spiegel accepted Zuckerberg’s $ 6 billion bid in late 2013.
Zuckerberg suggested the idea of clearing the lists of users’ friends to experience the joy of starting from the beginning
Another FTC theory is that it has been able to increase the burden of its advertisement over time because its users do not have alternative services. Zuckerberg suggested that Meta considered only an advertising feed on one occasion because its users think they are as good as regular content.
Subsequently, there are messages that Zuckerberg exchanged with his top officials with his top officials about the company’s decisions.
The FTC submitted internal documents that showed Zuckerberg fearing that his company was falling behind Instagram’s rapid growth, and fears it may be used to exceed the social media circle of messaging apps like WhatsApp. In court, he argued that the acquisition of these apps made them according to them today.
